How to prepare a Turkey–Czechia groupage enquiry
Use this guide to prepare a comparable quotation request for commercial part-load shipments from Turkey to Czechia or in the reverse direction. Base the enquiry on the actual shipment details rather than a universal price or delivery time.
Specify collection and delivery addresses
Provide the country, town and postal code for both locations. Include opening hours, ramp or forklift availability and any booking requirements. “Istanbul–Prague” alone does not describe all the conditions of a door-to-door movement.
Provide packed dimensions and gross weight
For each different pallet or package type, state the quantity, length, width and height with units. Gross weight includes the goods, packaging and pallet. Measure the outside of the shipment as prepared for transport and report any overhang.
Calculate volume without treating it as a price
For identical packages: volume (m³) = quantity × length (m) × width (m) × height (m). Two pallets measuring 1.20 × 0.80 × 1.00 m total 1.92 m³. This is a geometry example, not an actual customer shipment or quotation. Volume alone does not determine freight cost; weight and stackability also matter.
Describe stacking and special cargo requirements
State whether other cargo may be placed on top of the pallet and describe packaging limitations. Disclose fragility, temperature requirements or dangerous-goods characteristics in the initial enquiry. Disclosure does not mean the cargo is accepted; transport suitability needs separate confirmation.
Separate readiness, collection, departure and delivery dates
Cargo readiness, collection, international vehicle departure and expected delivery are distinct milestones. State any mandatory delivery date. Confirm when the quoted transit period starts and whether it uses working or calendar days; consider border, customs and receiver conditions.
Compare quotations with the same scope
Ensure the addresses, cargo dimensions and service scope match. Ask whether collection, main carriage, final delivery, customs services and possible storage or waiting charges are included. Confirm the currency, quotation validity and excluded costs in writing.
